A private and dignified way to say a final farewell

90 minutes

£325 (plus VAT)

Our large and very stable boat, ideal for committal of ashes ceremonies, seats up to ten persons and is based at Gunwharf Quays at the mouth of historic Portsmouth Harbour. A favourite piece of music can be played during the ceremony and the skipper or a chaplain of your choice can read a passage of your favourite text whilst the ashes are scattered and a wreath is laid on the water.

As an alternative to traditional ceremonies, we can also arrange to have the ceremony conducted by a celebrant for those preferring a humanist or secular service.

Gunwharf Quays offers ample parking and our berth in the marina is less than a 10 minute run across the water to the Mary Rose bouy in the Solent. This bouy marks the spot where hundreds of sailors lost their lives when Henry VIII’s flagship, the Mary Rose sank in 1545. The site is recognised as a national maritime war grave and is a traditional location for mariners and non-mariners alike to have their ashes scattered on the water.

Our boat, Wetwheels, is fully MCA coded to carry passengers and is fully accessible, ideal for those with mobility problems or wheelchair users.

Our crew are sensitive to the occasion and will do whatever they can to make the event as dignified as they can for you and your family
